Lawyer Lance Reich on the progress of U.S. youth clubs’ quest for Training Compensation and Solidarity payments

Holley Driggs intellectual property and sports law attorney, Lance Reich, speaks with Soccer America about the recent FIFA handout to 59 U.S. clubs, -- nine pro clubs from the National Women's Soccer League and 50 youth clubs -- as part of the $8.46 million in funds distributed to clubs that trained and released players for the 2019 Women's World Cup in France. Already spearheading the quest for American youth clubs to benefit from training compensation and solidarity payments over most of his practice, Reich adds a unique perspective on this major breakthrough in American soccer history, and what it means for U.S. youth clubs for years to come. Mayra Salinas Talks Title VII SCOTUS Decision with 1460 AM Decisión Latina

Mayra Salinas spoke with 1460 AM Decisión Latina on June 18, 2020 on the SCOTUS decision being a clarification of what already exists in the law of Title VII to indicate that gender identity is within the definition of the meaning of “sex” so the court made clear that LGBT people are protected under Title VII. She also briefly mentioned that to determine whether sex discrimination has occurred, there are already standards for showing whether discrimination occurred, so people who believe they were discriminated against should seek the advice of an attorney to determine whether they have a viable claim. 1460 AM Decisión Latina, 6/18, 2020. Holley Driggs Shareholder Andrea Gandara talked with The Deal about nursing homes and long-term care facilities dealing with litigation for alleged Covid-19-related deaths of patients and residents may soon begin seeking bankruptcy protection. Specifically, she noted, “Nursing homes and long-term care facilities could be forced into court if they have significant increases in the amount of money they must spend to defend against claims for Covid-19 deaths and infections or pay for personal protective equipment to safeguard employees and patients, which in turn may impact their ability to pay creditors. Filing bankruptcy is a way to harness all creditors in a single forum and try to address all issues in one proceeding.” The Deal, 6/8/20. Read Full Article
