Richard Holley Accepts Nomination for Prestigious National Law Honor

Premier Bankruptcy Attorney Richard Holley Adds The Fellows of The American Bar Foundation to List of Accolades

LAS VEGAS, August 27, 2020 — The Holley Driggs law firm is pleased to announce the nomination of Shareholder Richard Holley as an inductee as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

The Fellows comprise a global honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and the welfare of their communities. Membership in the Fellows is limited to one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. Fellows are recommended by their peers and elected by the Board of the American Bar Foundation.

“I am delighted and humbled to accept the Fellows nomination and provide service at the highest level to those who need our Firm’s help,” said Richard Holley, Shareholder at Holley Driggs. “We built the Firm to serve our Nevada community, and giving back has been important to me by keeping active pro bono cas- es throughout my career.

Due to his outstanding accomplishments and expertise in the field of bankruptcy, creditor and debtor rights, and civil litigation, Richard Holley has earned the highest recommendation from peers via an AV Preeminent Martindale-Hubble rank and received numerous awards over the years, including being inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, Best Lawyers in America, Mountain States Super Lawyer, Lawdragon 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers, and many other accolades.

Notably, Mr. Holley has served as Lead Counsel for the Receiver in the groundbreaking Nevada cannabis company CW Nevada receivership case this past year. With bankruptcy cases handled exclusively in the federal courts, typical bankruptcy protection for businesses operating legally under Nevada law in the newly created cannabis industry is not available. CW Nevada is the first cannabis company to be placed in receivership in the State of Nevada, which made the year-long case a groundbreaking matter requiring Mr. Holley’s extensive background and unique expertise.

The unique CW Nevada receivership case is moving toward liquidation of assets, including the sale of preserved licenses. Other Nevada cannabis companies experiencing financial or regulatory challenges or difficulties, will likely be subject to a similar fate of a judicial receivership to address these types of challenges given the inability of cannabis operations to qualify for federal bankruptcy relief.
