Holley Driggs actively deals with a wide range of construction law matters. Our team of experienced attorneys handles contract preparation and licensing for contractors, design professionals, hotels, and casinos. We provide solutions for bid disputes and preserve the bottom line with sound legal advice regarding mechanic liens and payment issues. The Firm also handles construction litigation locally and regionally on a wide variety of matters of all sizes and complexity, including default terminations, non-payment, design deficiencies, differing conditions, changes, delay claims, suspensions of work, acceleration, labor inefficiency, and insurance and surety bond claims.
The Firm has extensive experience managing construction defect litigation. Since 1983, our attorneys have been retained to represent developers, general contractors, design professionals, and target subcontractors in major litigation involving residential single-family, multi-family and high-rise residential structures. In fact, we have experienced trial attorneys who have tried many cases to verdict in California and Nevada, including one of the first construction defect cases in San Diego, California, the epicenter of construction defect litigation on the West Coast. Issues litigated include soil subsidence, defective roofs, waterproofing, structural integrity, water damage, flooding, and structural fires.
In addition to handling construction litigation, the Firm also has deep experience in mediating and arbitrating construction disputes. Our mediators have experience from many years of handling and trying such cases and received formal training at such prestigious institutions as the Stauss Center for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University.
The Construction Law Group offers its clients innovative legal solutions because we are familiar with the ongoing changes in laws and regulations that apply to contractors, owners, design professionals, and the projects with which they are involved. With the explosive growth in Nevada, the Firm is involved in the formulation of new construction legislation, including Nevada’s construction defect law, NRS Chapter 40.
The Firm’s senior partners, with over forty years of experience practicing construction contract law, have provided quality legal representation with a cost-conscious approach to hundreds of clients from public works projects to various hotels and casinos including MGM, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York, and the Riverside Hotel & Casino.
To stay current on issues facing Nevada contractors, the Firm’s attorneys are active and past members of local construction trade and bar associations. The Firm participates in the Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators for the American Arbitration Association, The Regional Construction Industry Advisory Committee, and the Las Vegas Advisory Council of the American Arbitration Association. The Construction Law Group is ready to service your construction firm or industry with experience and integrity.
