SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT
Las Vegas is the Entertainment Capital of the World, and Reno is the Biggest Little City in the World, and that means the world comes to Nevada for sports and entertainment. From rock stars to celebrity headliners to sports legends, we enjoy the entertainment and support it with legal services.
The Firm assists its Sports and Entertainment clients, from individual performers and athletes to iconic names in the restaurant, nightclub, promoter, record producer and hotel industries, as well as new arrivals to the industry in negotiating and entering into legal agreements for a wide range of related business opportunities, including appearance agreements, celebrity endorsements, distributor/vendor agreements, commercial leasing, financing matters, trademark and copyright matters, music/DJ/promoter licensing, management agreements, joint venture agreements, construction contracts, government licenses/permits, corporate and LLC formation, business structuring, real estate transactions, employment contract negotiations, and other business relationships such as charity formation. Such services are also supported by our litigation team in all aspects. The Firm’s Sports and Entertainment attorneys often work with complex corporate tax issues and employment matters, as well as working with the Firm’s intellectual property attorneys, to properly and fully serve their client’s needs.
We represent not only gaming and hotel properties concerning entertainment law issues, but also individual entertainers, athletes, entrepreneurs, nightclubs, and social media celebrities. Individual Sports and Entertainment legal services serve the full range of client needs, including estate planning and personal brand preservation to ensure image, likeness, trademarks, etc. are protected.
With the recent relocation of the Las Vegas Raiders, formerly Oakland Raiders, and the 2020 NFL Draft hitting the Las Vegas Strip, the Firm has expanded its sports offering to support NFL prospects and players. In 2019, Shareholder F. Thomas Edwards, former athlete on the Arizona Wildcat football program, obtained certification as an NFL Players Association Certified Player Agent and formed HD Sports Agency, a specialized division of the Firm. Tom brings 15 years of experience handling a wide range of complex business disputes, both in and out of court.
All specialized entertainment and gaming legal needs are led by Shareholder Kimberly P. Stein. Kim brings over 15 years of experience in the business world prior to becoming a lawyer, and over 15 years as both a transactional lawyer and litigator for local and national firms.
The Firm’s attorneys enjoy working with some of the world’s leading entertainers and athletes as they come to Nevada to entertain their fans, and with the operators of some of the finest night clubs and sports arenas in existence, and the result is not only fun for Nevada’s visitors, but also satisfying legal work for the Firm’s sports and entertainment attorneys to perform.
